Elf At The Zoo

We went to see the reindeer at the zoo. Unfortunately, the reindeer couldn't make it this year. But the Boy had fun seeing the gorilla and giraffe.

Aside: I found some free printable gift tags that are super cute. Check out this, this, this, and this if you are in the market for some nice holiday gift tags. Heck, just go here for a master list of freebies and pick your own favorites. Happy gift wrapping!

An Old Project

This is a project I did a while back but didn't have time to blog about. I needed a display for my aprons and mannequins are expensive. So I Googled a bit and found this amazing tutorial. I couldn't quite find all the things that she called for so I had to improvise.

Here is what I had: an old blanket, some batting, a paper roll from a bolt of fabric and a lamp base.

I've had this blanket for years! I am so glad there is a good use for it.

This is what my mannequin looked like after some initial draping.

Then I made it all nice and pretty with some batting and muslin.

Then I dressed her up real nice.

Since I had everything on hand I don't think I spent any money on it. I love projects like this!!!

Life With Three

This, I imagine, is what life would be like if I had three kids.

Once I picked up the baby and walked away, the two monkeys immediately started attacking their next target.

We had so much fun during this little baby's visit and not nearly enough pictures to show for it. Here is another picture of my adorable little God daughter. Girl, you've been Elf-ed.

Teaching the girl what her parents called "bad tricks".

I call the baby "My New Dolly" and the Girl wants in on the deal as well. She kept asking me to share. The Girl is such a little mommy.

Look at how happy they are! Well, my two are happy at least. Baby Elf is probably just thinking "get me out of this mad house!"

We got the kids to calm down and get dressed up for a minute for some nice family portraits. They were not very cooperative. If you can believe it, this was our "best" shot.

It's Starting To Feel A Lot Like Christmas

Actually, it's been feeling like Christmas for a week now. The defining moment was of course when we got the tree.

The Girl and I sorting through our small ornament collection.

I thought we'd start a new tradition this year with Christmas ornaments. Each year, we are going to buy a few ornaments that reflects the events of that year.

For the Girl, 2009 is the year of princesses. We saw the princesses at Disney and she is just obsessed with them. So naturally, she got her pink (her "best" colour) princess ornament.

The Boy is in love with Cars so he was happy to get his Mater Car ornament.

The Hubby started riding a bike to work this year so we got him a handmade pewter bike ornament. I didn't take a picture of it but here is a picture of how happy he was after he put it on the tree.

Here is our finished tree! I am excited and am definitely in a holiday mood.

PS I haven't been blogging much because 1. we've been busy and 2. my keyboard is broken. It's a pain to write and not be able to use any of the letters on the bottom row of the keyboard. I am looking for a fix. In the mean time, there is a lot of pounding on the computer and cursing. Arrrrrggggghhh!

Renewed Friendships

My children are forgetful. When they meet people, they fall in love but when they no longer have access to those people, they forget. Out of sight, out of mind, right? 4 months ago when we were in V town, the girl declared my friends her BFFs. After we came home, she is all "auntie who?" So I was a little skeptical that they will remember my friends when they come to visit us. Fortunately they warmed up in no time at all. Now, both kids have reconnected with their BFFs and have happily embraced the new addition to my friends' family.

"Let's read a book!"

The "I love you so much" attack.

The girls.

I asked my Girl if she enjoyed holding the baby and her answer was, "she is very heavy". So here you can see my Girl being squished by little baby A.

Craft Show

I had a booth at my first craft show yesterday. Although the sale was only so so, we've learnt a lot. We had a steady stream of customers and people were very nice and positive. It's nice to hear compliments to all my little babies. The aprons did very well, the shirts did okay, the bags not well and surprisingly, the felt balls did the best.

Getting ready. A big THANK YOU to my volunteer helper, Sandra. I really wouldn't have survived without you. Thank you for getting up so early to help.

The Girl was there to help me in body... in spirit... I am confused.

My tech consultant.

Ready to make some sales.

"Get back over here and do some real work."

I'd say there will be other shows in my future. Maybe in the summer?
