Random Collection

Here are some random pictures we took during the trip that I didn't have a chance to put up.

Here we were, all dressed up for a night out in the town.

The reason? To celebrate the 29th anniversary for Garry and Janet.

Here is a happy Hayden at 9:37am on a random morning.

Kira getting all hip and cool to go swimming with Nanny and Papa. This girl loves the water.

We went to a vegetarian restaurant called Lotus Heart Blossom because it reminded us of a favorite spot of ours in Seattle called Silence Heart Nest. Turns out, they are sister restaurants. They have the BEST tofu loaves ever! Here is Kira stuffing her face, literally.

Kiki loves Nanny.

Finally, a video that I am going to broadcast when Hayden is 18 and belongs to a super cool rock band.

Tuxedo Baby

Thank you to everyone who send a message about the baby tux. I may make some for the shop. I will at least make some onesies if not the vest and the pants.

We are home now after another long day of travel. Both kids did beautifully on the 6 hour flight. I have lots of pictures to share with you but I am going to post a little out of order and show the wedding pictures first.

First, a bunch of super happy baby in tux pics:

The handsome duo:

The girl with smile issues. Kira had so much fun at the wedding. She didn't nap all day and yet she lasted until 10pm. She ran around and made herself lots of new friends.

Brett, Garry, Nat, and Steve. Congrats again Nat and Steve. It was a beautiful wedding and we all had a lot of fun. Thanks for including us on your special day.

Everyone all dressed up:

A Short Trip to the Island

We took the ferry over to a near by island on this hot hot day. The ferry ride was about 20 minutes and it was very pleasant. We had lunch right on the waterfront and then we walked around in search of ice-cream. It has been a very long time since I've been in a situation where I can't keep up with rate of my ice-cream melting. (I am a very experienced and skilled ice-cream eater.)

On the way to the island. Can you believe this ferry is free??? Even for cars! You just walk right on and it takes you to the other side.

Hayden and Nana enjoying lunch.

Kira was such a mess.

Meanwhile, Hayden waits in the stroller angelically.

Kira and Nana on the way back. This time, we didn't sit on the upper deck. It was just too hot.

Baby and mommy - oh so happy together.

Hope you are all enjoying some nice weather.

Bubbles

If you are not even a little bit fascinated with soap bubbles, this post is not for you.

We were at the dollar store and I wanted to buy Kira a bottle of bubbles so she'd have something to do when we hang out on the porch and the yard. We found this "touchable bubbles" and thought we'd give it a try. These things are quite weird. The solution is very viscous and the bubbles are small yet colourful. Once the bubbles have been in the air for a while, they "harden" and stay on the various surfaces that they land on. If you go and pop them, they turn into a white film that is a lot like dry glue.

I, I mean Kira had a lot of fun playing with it and the bubbles make for very interesting pictures. Here are some of them:

First, here is the stuff we used:

Bubbles on the porch:

Bubbles on flowers. These bubbles were like glass. If you look at the pictures closely enough, you can see a reflection of me taking the picture of the bubbles.

Bubble hanging on a bush. You don't even have to look that closely to see my reflection in this one.

Bubble resting peacefully on my pinky.

I thought these two pictures look really neat because of the contrast in texture.

Here is a picture of the girl watching the bubbles.

According to my father in law, the secret of these bubbles lie in hydroxybutyl methyl cellulose. If you are interested to learn more, the patent for these bubbles can be found here. In a previous life, I would have jumped at the option of making this a fun year end project for my AP class. Now, I'll simply enjoy the happiness that this little invention brings.

Are We There Yet???

Yes, after traveling for 16 hours, we are finally here. We left our house at 8 am and arrived at 11pm our time which is 2 am local time. The kids both did great. We had a layover at Chicago for a couple of hours so they go to run around a bit. After the layover, the kids were so exhausted that they fell asleep on the second plane ride even before the plane took off. We've been here for a couple of days and they seem to have adjusted to the time difference already.

Here are a couple of Kiki with her new BFF.

Secret Project

I have been working on a secret project. Something I won't need for another 6 months or so. But, I like to plan ahead. So here is a sneak peek of what I have so far... What do you think?

Oh, no, I didn't make these costumes. This is more of a photography project. Did I just spoiled the surprise?
