Keeping Clean

We like to keep our children clean and our children in turn like to keep us clean.

While we were bathing Hayden:

Baby back...

Smile pretty and clean for the camera.

Try not to drink any water...

Kira decided it's a good time for some cleaning activities of her own:

Size of Hayden

I tell people Hayden is HUGE all the time but just how "huge" is he? Well, here are a couple of size comparisons.

He looks almost afraid of the stocking, doesn't he? He should be afraid... I made that stocking. Who knows what crazy mommy may hide in there to trick him.

"Ha! Ha! Look at me all strong and mighty. Oh... and while you are at it, don't forget to check out the signature Allen Turkey Legs."

I have put up a few more pictures on our album if anyone's interested. I am going to do a little at a time instead of the massive uploads I've been doing. Hopefully, I will be able to keep up with a few upload during nap time every so often.

Bubbles two ways

We had a nice mellow weekend at home. The weather was bad so we pretty much stayed in and relaxed. I got some sewing done today, which was nice. I love having my little sewing corner in my bedroom.

Kira and Hayden both played with bubbles today. Here are the videos:

A paparazi view of Kira playing with bubbles. Brett was out in the backyard with her and I was sewing in my room. Couldn't resist grabbing the camera and taking a picture.

Here is Hayden playing a slightly different and maybe gross version of bubbles.

Rain

We don't often get crazy weather here and I've gone very soft since moving to SF. It's raining quite hard today and there are some pretty strong wind which makes it look like the end of the world outside. Kira, Hayden and I are homebound. Hayden is still sleeping and Kira and I had a lot of fun playing with the foam chips from a box we opened this morning. Here is a video of her watching the rain and a video of her helping me clean up the foam mess.

"Dai Yu Oh" means "big rain!".

Not a very exciting video but I thought I'd put it on here anyway. She is such a neat freak. Oh... the box contains a doll which makes a mess when licking his ice-cream cone and you are supposed to wipe him clean. Kira loves it. She feeds him, then wipes him, then feeds him again. Endless fun!

Test Video

Just testing out what I can do with the blogging software. Check out this video:

Dear fellow Canadians...

First of all, I have to say for the record that I love Canada. But sometimes, it's stupid rules and bureaucracy can really get you down. For example, don't you find it troublesome to have to take passport photos with all the restrictions? The tiniest imperfection and they send it right back to you which means another however many weeks of waiting and a few tens of dollars out the window. Well, here in the States, anyone can take your passport photos. I took a bunch of pictures of Hayden this morning and took them to the drugstore to be cropped and printed into passport photo size and specifications and voila, there they are. Taking a good picture of an infant is very challenging and I was glad I could take the time to do it at the comfort of my living room.
Then there are the failed attempts:

Eyes closed
Too sad... but I think they would have let me use this if I wanted
Too confused.
Cute but head tilted.

Well, there were many more failed attempts but I won't put all 40 of them on here.

After I took care of the passport pictures, I went downtown to get Hayden's birth certificate. They line was long but according to Brett, the price of $14 was a steal. He was told that in Canada, if you don't have a birth certificate and need to get one as an adult, you pretty much have to send them ashes of your house to prove that your birth certificate was burnt to ashes along with the house and then you pay a hefty $60 or something like that and cross your fingers and hope they will someday send you a copy.

Finally, I went to the post office and submitted our passport application. It will hopefully arrive in 6 to 8 weeks. What a busy morning. Now I get to sit back, relax and think about crafting... wait, I need to think about dinner first.

New Year Resolution

Happy 2008. My new year resolution is to start blogging so I can share the happenings in my life with all of you. It is also an effort for those who care about Kira and Hayden to not miss a beat in their lives. They change so fast that I feel like they are different people even from morning to evening. On that note, I can hear Kira waking up from her nap. This is probably how a lot of my entries will end...

In the mean time, check out more new pics at:

I just updated them today. Here is a sneak peek.
