How Did I Miss This?

Somehow, these pics were never shared. Look at how proud she is.

Game Time

Due to recent events (1. many commented that I have twins; 2. hubby not being able to tell which kid climbed into our bed at night; 3. my mom made a bet with a friend to see which kid's picture was on the blog and LOST), I have decided it's game time again. Can you pick out the Boy from these?

Gift Opening Excitment

These were obviously from a couple of days ago. The gift opening was pretty exciting. Both kids had some really over the top reactions.

The Boy handing out one of the first gifts to be opened.

"It's a train! Open the box! Faster! Open! Santa brought a train!"

A short video of the excited pair opening some of their gifts. For the record, I didn't get them either of those gifts. I thought we narrowly escaped the whole Barbie thing but we didn't. Oh well.

After all the gifts had been opened, the Girl posed for a "victory" picture. There were more, but this was all she could carry. Hubby and I didn't really get the kids anything this year because they just have too much stuff. Somehow, they still ended up with 7 or 8 gifts each to open.

The Boy was much more sensible. He is wearing his new Christmas outfit and playing with his new train and animals. He saved the rest for later.

Then the Girl turned into our photographer. Here is her version of "daddy and his gifts".

Concert Part 2

Okay, the video was too long and it was too painful for an unskilled imovie user to edit it so I am not putting up the last one. To request a copy on CD, please send a self address envelop to La Casa De Langlangcreations. You will receive your order within a year or two. (No, really, just email me and I will send you a copy on CD.)

Oh, seeing his big sister perform totally puts the Boy in concert mode. Here is his version of his favorite Christmas carol. I love how he sings with so so so much gusto! Hey!

Merry Christmas!

I was going to edit these videos before I put them here. Then I realize it's going to take way too much time. I won't be done until Christmas 2010. So, here they are in their original form.

There are a couple others but they are too big to put on here. Maybe I will do them tomorrow.

On Demand Sewing

The Girl performed at her school wide Christmas concert last week. The concert was at 5:45. In the morning when she went to class, she saw that her friends were wearing pink dresses. So she requested at 1pm that I turn her white dress into a pink dress with lots of flowers on it. I convinced her to nap and got working.

Here is what we had to work with.

The most obvious thing was to add a pink sash.

Then I got working on the flowers. I have a lot of fabric at home but not a lot of trims. I had to make some flowers. The easiest thing to work with was felt. Luckily, I had a couple pieces of red and pink felt left from other projects. The first flower I made was this red one. I wanted some bright colours to make it more Christmas-y and less Easter-y.

I really liked how the first flower turned out. So I got thinking about what she can wear with the dress. The dress comes with a silver shrug which I was sure she was not going to want to wear. Then I remember how much I love seeing little girls wear capelets. I had some fleece left from Halloween so I made her a quick capelet and embellished it with more pink flowers.

Here is a closer look at the flowers.

The Girl had doubts when she saw the look I created. I had to convince her that she had quite enough flowers on her outfit and that I would be sure to remember to buy her a pink dress next time. Despite all this doubt, she was quite happy once she put the dress on.

Here is the complete outfit.

Here are some pictures to give you a sneak peak of the concert.

Stay tuned. Details of the concern will be here tomorrow.

Strange Behaviour

"Stop looking! It's all mine!"

"More?"

"Ah! The satisfaction!"

So after the Boy finished his cone, we took off his pants because he had dripped ice-cream all over it. He felt quite liberated and ran around the house a few times yelling "I am naked!" Then the strange behaviour began. As if in a trance, he grabbed a book and our laundry basket and hunkered down to read... in the basket.

??? What??? Not even Mommy can understand this one.

Once Every Six Months

Six months ago, I did this to the boy. I just can't bring myself to do it again, so I took him to see a professional.

Here is the before.

The during.

The after. What a handsome do.

More Elves and Christmas Activities

The Boy's last dance class was Christmas themed. For the first time, the costumes were not all girly girly.

Elf with an attitude.

A class of elves.

The Girl had to miss her last class because we overslept. So we made up for it by going to a cookie decorating party. Icing in every colour imaginable - YUM!

Here are a few more decorations that went up at our house. First, a picture of our mantle.

Here are a couple of ornaments we made last year.

Finally, a picture of our tree all lit up.

Elf At The Zoo

We went to see the reindeer at the zoo. Unfortunately, the reindeer couldn't make it this year. But the Boy had fun seeing the gorilla and giraffe.

Aside: I found some free printable gift tags that are super cute. Check out this, this, this, and this if you are in the market for some nice holiday gift tags. Heck, just go here for a master list of freebies and pick your own favorites. Happy gift wrapping!

An Old Project

This is a project I did a while back but didn't have time to blog about. I needed a display for my aprons and mannequins are expensive. So I Googled a bit and found this amazing tutorial. I couldn't quite find all the things that she called for so I had to improvise.

Here is what I had: an old blanket, some batting, a paper roll from a bolt of fabric and a lamp base.

I've had this blanket for years! I am so glad there is a good use for it.

This is what my mannequin looked like after some initial draping.

Then I made it all nice and pretty with some batting and muslin.

Then I dressed her up real nice.

Since I had everything on hand I don't think I spent any money on it. I love projects like this!!!

Life With Three

This, I imagine, is what life would be like if I had three kids.

Once I picked up the baby and walked away, the two monkeys immediately started attacking their next target.

We had so much fun during this little baby's visit and not nearly enough pictures to show for it. Here is another picture of my adorable little God daughter. Girl, you've been Elf-ed.

Teaching the girl what her parents called "bad tricks".

I call the baby "My New Dolly" and the Girl wants in on the deal as well. She kept asking me to share. The Girl is such a little mommy.

Look at how happy they are! Well, my two are happy at least. Baby Elf is probably just thinking "get me out of this mad house!"

We got the kids to calm down and get dressed up for a minute for some nice family portraits. They were not very cooperative. If you can believe it, this was our "best" shot.
