Royalty

It's official, the girl is royalty. Here is her royal portrait.

Looking silly when she thought nobody's paying attention.

She was given this jewelry set by a friend of mine and was super excited. She said, "so I AM a princess. Why didn't you tell me?"

Then she decided to share the bling with the boy. We all know he's not going to turn it down. "Woooa! Look at the size of that rock!"

To keep up, the boy decided he should play in style.

"Who? Me? You think I am stylish? Why, thank you!"

Children of a Seamtress

What do you do when your mommy says, "Run along and play by yourselves. Mommy is sewing."?

You go into her stash and pick your favorite...

Wrap them around yourselves...

And pretend to be a super hero or fairly princess...

And run around the house like mad for an hour.

Finally, you crash!

Zoo Day Round 2

We went to the zoo again. It was super fun. I am looking forward to another visit soon. Oh, and the above picture is the boy's standard cheer after he successfully feeds a goat.

New Fancy Library

There is a series of library renovation projects going on in the city. The one near us turned out pretty fancy. The building itself is pretty and there is a cute little playground right outside.

The building right behind the baby is the new library.

The girl enjoys the slide.

So carefree.

Mommy and dare devil baby both crazy about the swings.

Another Clutch

I have made two more since I took these pictures. This one went to my sister and the others will hopefully make it to the shop. I am giving them away faster than I can make them.

Evidence

Here's proof that my sister actually visited. It was a very short visit and we had a very busy schedule. We took these pictures on the very last night right before we tucked the kids in.

Climbing on to claim his spot.

Sharing a quiet moment.

Group shot.

Weird Smoothy

Hubby concocted this drink one fine evening. Care to name all the ingredients?

Here is a clearer view of the mix.

The girl was brave enough to test drink it.

"Em...."

Smile of approval.

Worst. Haircut. Ever!

"I don't want a haircut. No! No! No! No! No!"

"I told you! I knew you'd mess it up. What did you do????"

"Watch out, woman. I will get you back. I know where you keep your scissors and I sleep next to you at night."

Baby's First Pizza

Baby made his first pizza! We actually started from fresh dough this time instead of pre-baked pizza crust.

He wasn't really into the making until I put the cheese on top. He's supposed to spread out the cheese. Instead, he just started eating the cheese. The ate so much that I think he picked out some dough and ate that at one point. I think the process was totally lost on him but he did eat about half of his pizza. He called it "caw caw" which is how he says crackers.

The girl went for a more artistic style. She called it the butterfly pizza.

Healthy Meal

Would you consider this a healthy meal for a 3 year old?

The girl has become a very picky eater and our pediatrician said that her eating habits may be hindering her growth. I have been trying to get her to eat a larger variety of foods and definitely include more fruits and vegetables in her diet. She finished everything pictured here, plus a banana for dinner. Am I on the right track?

Wristlets

First of all, I have to clarify that the baby is no longer sick. Maybe he still has a bit of runny nose but the sick pictures I posted two days ago were taken last week. He is all better now. I was very touched to get all the concerned emails and phone calls asking about his health. It wasn't anything serious. He gets a cold here and there all the time and he always bounces back from them quickly.

Now, the fun stuff. I saw this super cute wristlet at Maker Faire and thought I had to make one. I bought the pattern and have made three so far. It's quite an enjoyable pattern to sew and I am addicted. I think everyone I know should have one. Here are the ones I have made so far:

This the first one I made. I didn't have the hardware on hand at the time so I made this one into a clutch, not a wristlet. I made this out of some uphostery weight fabric. This clutch is pretty firm and has a lot of body.

Then, I made these two.

You can see from the Mason jar that the wristlet is quite small. You can put a phone, sets of keys, drivers licence and credit card, maybe a little bit of cash and a pack of gum in it. It's the kind of thing I like to carry when I go out without the kids.

You can also unhook the wrist part and use the bag to carry your essentials and hook the bag into your regular big purse.

Here is a close up of the blue one. This is made out of quilting weight cotton and has only interfacing but no additional batting. It doesn't hold its shape as well but is much lighter.

I think this is my favorite so far. The outer shell and inner lining are both quilting cotton. The outer shell is interfaced and hte inner lining has some flannel sewn on for extra rigidity. It's impossible to iron this thing. Maybe I need a steamer? A ham?

I am considering putting these in the shop. What do you think? I have given the two flower ones away as gifts already. I still have the blue one. I want to make a red one for myself and then I can start sewing for the shop. Have to make just one more to perfect the technical stuff, right?

It's All About the Baby

Yep! A post of picture after picture after picture of the boy. I think I finally got some good pictures of him. What do you think? Like any of them?
